How are the colors on the map interpreted?

Each grid cell is displayed with a color scale corresponding to the value of the flood risk index H(t). Cool shades indicate low relative risk, while warm shades correspond to increased or very high risk.

What do the values of the H(t) index mean?

The H(t) index takes values in the range [0, 1] and expresses relative flood risk. Low values indicate limited hazard, while high values correspond to an increased likelihood of flood phenomena, based on the current conditions.

Can Inachos be used for Civil Protection decision-making?

No. The Inachos system and the DFHAM model are in a research and pilot development phase. They do not replace official forecasts or operational tools of the competent authorities.

How often are the data updated?

The system design provides for an hourly update time step, depending on the availability of input data and the computational capabilities. The final update scheme will be determined at a later stage.

Access to historical results and data

Access to historical results of the mathematical model Dynamic Flood Hazard Assessment Model (DFHAM) is not currently provided through the public interface of the system.

At a later stage of development, access to archived simulation results will be available upon request, which will be submitted by sending an email to the contact address of the Inachos system, with a brief description of the intended use of the data.

After evaluation and approval of the request, access to the selected historical results will be provided through a secure file transfer mechanism (FTP), exclusively for research, educational or pilot use.
